My Hudson Valley Guide
After spending several summers in the Hudson Valley we have found all of our “spots” that make it feel like home in the summer. Here is my guide to all of our favorite places to eat, play and shop in the area!
Restaurants
Monte’s in Amenia is our favorite spot for family dinners. Great food and kid friendly.
For Mexican we love La Puerta Azul in Millbrook. Also very kid friendly.
For a date night Doug and I love Serevan in Amenia. Thye have the best hummus on the planet!
Troutbeck in Amenia has wonderful farm to table food and delicious cocktails.
Market Street in Rhinebeck is great for a kid free dinner.
For simple, fresh, french food Le Petit Bistro in Rhinebeck is excellent.
The White Hart Inn in Salisbury CT is always delicious.
Markets
Every Saturday we head to the Millbrook Farmers Market to pick up fresh bread, produce and other local goodies like pickles on a stick!
Big Rock Market in Stanfordville is my go to for fruits, veggies and other excellent local items. I am there several times a week!
Walbridge Farm Market is a great place to pick up pickles, honey, maple syrup and the aforementioned amazing hummus from Serevan!
For grocery staples and pantry items we love Sunflower Natural Foods in Rhinebeck. They carry all of our favorites!
Shopping
I love an independent bookstore and Merritt Books is my absolute favorite. Kira, the owner always has spot on recommendations!
For gifts and beautiful toys the girls love Juniper Millbrook. They carry all of of favorites like Maileg and Meri Meri!
Fun
Nothing feels more like summer than a movie at Four Brother’s Drive In! They show new releases and even have food you can get delivered to your car.
Every August we make a trip (or two!) to the Duchess Country Fair. Rides, food and fun!
The girls both love SplashDown Beach Water Park, which has water slides for all ages!
Sharon Playhouse always puts on a fun summer season. They even have a kids musical theater camp that Hermione will attend next year!
Once a summer we drive up to the Berkshires for a weekend ( only an hour away) and I always take Hermione to see a show at Barrington Stage Company.
Hikes
Kent Falls is an easy, family friendly hike we do at least once a summer.
Dover Stone Church is a family favorite that ends at a beautiful cave that looks like a church!
The hike to the Stissing Mountain fire tower is a great challenge with beautiful views.
