A Modern Miss Rumphius

Have you read the gorgeous children's book Miss Rumphius? It's one of our favorites! It tells the story of Alice Rumphius (aka The Lupine Lady)who dedicated most of her life to spreading lupine flower seeds around the world in order to make it more beautiful. What a wonderful and inspiring idea!

It was with Miss Rumphius in mind that I set out to buy holiday gifts for all of the women in our lives. From  close girl friends, to Hermione and Portia's teachers, to our favorite workout instructors I wanted to find one beautiful gift that would in a small way make the world (or Lower Manhattan) a more beautiful place. 

When I saw this gorgeous "Feministe" necklace by GLDN I gasped. It was understated, feminine and had exactly the message I wanted to put out into the world. I promptly ordered scores of them and am so glad I did!  With each necklace I had GLDN include a card ( thanks for writing out so so many of them!) that read:

Here's to strong women.                                                                                                               May we know them.                                                                                                                       May we be them.                                                                                                                           May we raise them. 

Now that the holidays are over I love seeing everyone we gifted the necklace to wearing them! It feels like a small army of bold, beautiful, women making the world a more beautiful place.

If you are looking for a special gift for a woman in your life I cannot recommend this necklace (or really anything) by GLDN enough. I love it so much I even put it on my own Christmas list and was thrilled when Doug got me one too!
